This entire road has been rumored to be haunted, with no specific location or story. Most of the stories surrounding the road involve a satanic cult and sacrifice, among other occult behaviors. Cars that drive along the road at night have reported engines shutting off and an ominois feeling of being watched. Some have also claimed to see shadows around their vehicle, the vehicle being shook violently and hand prints appearing on the car even though no person actually approached the car. Another set of stories include a farmer who worshipped Satan. He was said to have sold his soul for power but the devil tricked him and he instead became a demonic creature referred to as Goat Man. Reports say he has a Satyr like appearance and stands at over 7 feet tall with white furry legs and an animal-like head with horns and glowing eyes. Witnesses have reported that he carries a pitch fork or axe and can appear and disappear at will. He has also been known to stop in front of stopped vehicles and watch those inside.

  • Too many stories

We used to hang out at Mill Pond in the 90s. One night found burned cat in a pentagram. Hollowed hog head on fence post. Wanted to show my brother in law the road, car lights kept flashing off and on, sometimes stay off, only time I had ever had that happen. A little caution it's all private land, no trespassing signs everywhere. Some sites show Devil Worship Road as Waynesboro/Shubuta Rd, not correct, it's actually River Rd, so if you're not from the area use a GPS. I haven't been down the road in years, I wander if there's any uptick in activity since the Old One Lane Bridge collapsed and several people died.

  • life scare.

Me and my boyfriend went down to where the bridge is. We sat there for a few minutes. when we got ready to leave the car headlights would not come on. An the hole way back to the house we had to flicker them to even get any light. An there was also a very eerie like feeling inside the vehicle. When we got home the light work again. But we ended up having to pray over the truck to get the spirit to leave.

  • Old Church

My cousin, her boyfriend, my sister, and myself went to the old church down the road and the light pole was off. When we pulled up, her boyfriend said Aye! and the light came on. He asked a couple times to flicker the light and then finally said "If you turn the light off, we won't come back." And the light went off. Him and his friends have had multiple experiences down the road too.
